What is my ONT?

If you have a Full Fibre connection, your home will include a device called an Optical Network Terminal (ONT). The lights on this device help indicate whether your connection is working correctly.

What is an ONT?
An Optical Network Terminal (ONT) connects your property to the fibre broadband network. It converts the fibre signal into a connection that your router can use.

Power light
The Power light shows whether the ONT is receiving power. This light should normally be ON.

If the Power light is off:

• Check the power adaptor is securely connected
• Ensure the ONT power switch is turned on
• Confirm the wall socket is working

PON light
The PON (Passive Optical Network) light indicates whether the ONT is connected to the fibre network.

This light should normally be solid green.

If the PON light is off or the LOS light is red, the ONT may not be receiving a signal.

You can try the following:

• Check the fibre cable is securely connected
• Carefully unplug and reconnect the fibre cable
• Restart the ONT by turning it off for 10 seconds
• Check the fibre cable is not bent or damaged

LAN light
The LAN light shows whether the ONT is connected to your router.

This light should normally be green.

If the LAN light is off:

• Check the Ethernet cable is securely connected
• Ensure the cable runs from the ONT LAN port to the WAN port on your router
• Try reconnecting the cable on both ends
• Try another Ethernet cable if available
