What is One Touch Switch?

Basically, it’s a way to make switching broadband providers waaaaay easier. And it’s about time.

Let’s face it – most broadband providers really, really, really don’t want you to leave. And (like the worst kind of break-ups) they make the whole process difficult and stressful. From begging you to stay with them to suddenly offering you a new lower price, you’re met with shady tricks and sneaky tactics. And, well, it’s just not on.

Unlike other providers, we’ve always made it nice and simple to leave Cuckoo – because we think the freedom to choose your provider is really important. And now, the whole industry is catching up – with something called One Touch Switch from Ofcom. This makes it even easier for anyone to switch providers.

Here’s how One Touch Switching works

Click. Switch. Done.

Switching made simple

From 12 September 2024, when you join Cuckoo, you’ll be able to check a box that says we’ll handle the move your current provider to us. All we’ll need is the name of your current provider and account number (exactly as they’re written out with them), and we’ll handle all the admin.

It’s the same if you’re leaving Cuckoo, too. All you’ll need to do is use One Touch Switch on their website, and they’ll let us know you’re leaving the flock.

How does One Touch Switch work?

If you’re joining us on cuckoo.co, you’ll find a section called ‘I’d like Cuckoo to handle my switch’.  You’ll also need to give us the name, exactly as it appears on your current provider account, and account number (if needed). Then, we’ll use those details to find your current broadband account.

If you’re joining us on the phone, our lovely Customer Care team will talk you through the One Touch Switch process and you can give them your details then.

What happens when you find a match with my current provider?

You should get an email from them with info about ending your broadband contract and services pretty quickly. Once you’ve had a look at this and you’re happy with it all, you can carry on with your Cuckoo broadband order.

I’ve got a message saying you can’t find a match. What should I do?

Try checking details from your current provider, like having a look against your bill or your online account, and put them through again. Or, you can always give us a ring on 0330 912 9955 and we can help you from there.

What happens after I’ve put my Cuckoo broadband order through?

We’ll send an order confirmation welcoming you to the flock, confirming that we’re handling the switch process for you. We’ll then speak to your current broadband provider, and make sure that Cuckoo is up and running in your home the same day your current broadband service is switched off. We’ll also ask them to stop charging you on the switch date.

Can anyone use One Touch Switch?

There are one or two cases where you might not be able to use it. For example, if your current broadband provider can’t give the go-ahead to switch you over, which could be for a number of reasons. We’ll always let you know if that’s the case and suggest you get in touch with them directly. But don’t worry, your Cuckoo broadband order will still go ahead unless you tell us otherwise.

What if I need to cancel my broadband order after I’ve used One Touch Switch?

No problem – as long as it’s within 48 hours of you putting the order through, we can easily cancel it for you. Just give us a ring on 0330 912 9955.

I’m a Cuckoo customer. How do I use One Touch Switch to sign up with a different broadband provider?

You’ll be able to do this when you sign up with the new broadband provider. Once you’ve given them your name and account details with Cuckoo, they’ll confirm a switch match with you. We’ll then send an email with all the info you need about ending your contract with us.
