Is the UK still fair? Queue cutting and bad service lead complaints

Josh G | Social Media & Content Lead

From dynamic ticket pricing to rising household bills and being put on hold. It's no wonder Brits are feeling shortchanged at the moment

What's the beef?

Majority of Brits cite bills increasing in past year, despite usage remaining the same

😡 The biggest cause of unfairness experienced by consumers is increases in household bills - with a whopping 86% of Brits saying they’ve suffered from this in the last year, despite usage remaining the same.

đŸ˜€ Another source of frustration is having phone calls disconnected after being placed on hold, forcing them to rejoin the call queue from the start. 74% of people surveyed have experienced this.

đŸ„č And, of course, queue jumping is a major grumble of irritation to Brits, with 72% of those surveyed highlighting this as an issue. We quite agree!

Other findings from the survey include:

â–Ș The good old days. Most adults (53%) think the UK isn't as fair as it was five years ago

â–Ș Whatever happened to good old fashioned British value of fair play? Just a quarter of respondents (28%) think this still exists

â–Ș The North/South divide is real. Only 10% of people think all areas of the UK are treated equally, with the majority of people (55%) saying the North of England gets treated worse than other regions

â–Ș Three quarters (75%) think the items in their typical food shop are overpriced

â–Ș Two thirds (66%) think that utility companies are untrustworthy (ouch)

Any green shoots?

Well more than half of people surveyed felt that the UK was still a fair country.

And, our survey found that 18-24 year-olds had an even more positive viewpoint with 57% agreeing that the UK is a fair country. So, there's hope for the future, right...?

Trust and fairness should be at the centre of everyday life and people shouldn’t feel hard done by. We are on a mission to fix fairness and it starts with treating customers well.
